This course aims to introduce the student to eight essential movements facing the local church that desires to bring out Kingdom justice in community. Beginning with a focus on posture, privilege and inclusivity, the conversation continues to address the need to move from a stance of charity into a greater valuing of community. Challenges bred by colonization, cross-cultural engagement and the need for contextualization are considered. Preserving the unique perspective that comes from applying the gospel of the Kingdom of God to life among the poor sums up the perspective of the course. Interviews with local and global practitioners are included as well as practical exercises to help in the development of the necessary skill set for effective ministry.
